Truly a joy to read the Alchemist was a great story with love, plot twists, adventure, and more importantly life lessons thrown in every paragraph so that you got a lesson on how to improve your life while having a good time. Some great take aways were:

1. To live in the present.

2. Accept love.

3. Seek out your Personal Legend.

4. You're never DONE working hard to improve yourself and fufill your legend. There's no finish line

 

A lot of books have similar admonitions but the thing really unique about this one was the emphasis on PERSONAL. Since it was his personal legend the boy did not become famous after he reached seperate goals. When the boy first met the King he was annoyed and didn't know he was a king. People put such an emphasis on celebrity and popularity that it was just refreshing to read something where the journal to self discovery and self improvement involved a few meaningful and close relationships.
